It seems like Bend It Like Beckham 2 may well be on the horizon… although it would have some obsticals to overcome first.
The writer/director from the first Bend It Like Beckham film, Gurinder Chadha, says she wants to carry the story on. However, as the good folks over at filmfodder point out, it may not be that easy of a task to pull off:
Getting together the original cast today might be hard, as Keira Knightly has become increasing sought after/expensive. Meanwhile Parminder Nagra has a steady gig on ER, which might be hard to shoot around.
Personally, I think it would be great if these big stars remembered where they launched their careers from and came back to do another one… but who knows… maybe even the idea of a sequel is a bad one and they should just leave well enough alone.
