Jon Favreau might be best known for the successes of Iron Man and its sequel, but he is gearing up for a star studded Cowboys and Aliens next summer. But he doesn’t have tunnel vision, as he is fully aware of the staggering competition gearing up to own the Summer of ’11. (Summer of Superheroes?)
HeroComplex quotes Favs:
“It’s Omaha Beach, it’s going to be a blood bath,” the filmmaker said Friday about next year’s crush of big special-effects films, remakes and sequels. “There’s never been a summer like this next summer. It’s going to be bloody [for filmmakers and the studios]. As we were sticking thumb tacks in a calendar we realized that this is going to be looked back upon as Omaha Beach.”
Lets list them off shall we?
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
X-Men: First Class
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Super 8
The Hangover 2
Rise of the Apes
And some kiddie fare to complicate the calendar:
New Winnie the Pooh
Cars 2
KungFu Panda 2
Smurfs
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World
That’s going to be a full dance card from May to August, and those are just the more notable releases coming out.
And I wont even be writing off the kiddie films. I wont be able to resist the Smurfs on nostalgia sake alone and I will likely hit them all up because of this site (that’s my excuse, and I am sticking to it!).
What are you excited about?
