Darren Aronofsky Eyeing Up Batman Job?

Could Darren Aronofsky take over as director of the Batman series when Christopher Nolan moves on? Well, it seems like he wants the job anyway. We all know he’s currently making The Wolverine, his first taste of superhero movies, and perhaps it wont be his last. He’s returning to an old, abandoned idea he had for a Batman movie and turning it into a graphic novel. But thats not all, as he exposes his now barely veiled ambitions.
Interview with Clothes on Film

It hasn’t really been announced, I don’t know if I should give you the scoop! But we’re getting there. We’re doing a comic book of a script that’s really hard to make and we’re going to do a comic version first and see what happens… It seems like if you come up with an original script, in Hollywood it’s not as effective as a comic book. It doesn’t even have to be successful as a comic; I mean how successful were Kick-Ass or Scott Pilgrim? Those were fringe comics, right, and they were basically turned in to big pictures.

Sounds pretty obvious to me, and he used some pretty good examples. However, this is Batman, and if it is a huge departure from mainstream Bat, and more along the lines of its original script, I still can’t see Hollywood giving this a thumbs up.
Then again, Darren Aronofsky is seriously becoming one of those huge names, and I guess Batman Begins was a fresh take… if they let Christopher Nolan loose on the Bats, maybe they’ll let Aronofsky have his shot too.
What’s your take on all this, dudes? Could Aronofsky do Batman?
