Priest is an adaptation of the Tokyo Pop post apocalyptic world of warrior priests vs vampires, and it seems to me they have been making this movie for about 3 years now. And now we finally get to see a trailer:
I was really digging it until I saw Karl Urban, the badguy in this movie. He just doesn’t strike me as menacing here, and dancing in the fire just makes him look ludicrous insane instead.
The non-traditional vampires, and over the top action make it look like it wont be a bad film, but I worry about the rest of it all. Especially the obvious attempts to throw things at the screen, which makes the 3D option just look desperate. This is just the kind of film I would want to see in 3D, but it takes me out of the movie when I see obvious attempts to push things to the front of the screen to show it off.
I am really on the fence here. I expect more from Karl Urban and Paul Bettany is no slack, and Maggie Q looks a lot prettier than normal (I dont normally gind this girl hot) and we get a better look at Lily Collins in action (who will star in The Mortal Instruments adaptations).
Something just isnt sitting right with me on this one.
