A very light week in Boxoffice this past weekend. January is where movies go to die, and while Green Hornet is still holding on strong after 3wks of winter limbo it managed to secure the fourth spot in the Top 5.
Boxoffice Mojo has the estimates:
The Rite – $15,005,000 – Opening
No Strings Attached – $13,650,000 – 2wks
The Mechanic – $11,500,000 – Opening
The Green Hornet – $11,500,000 – 3wks
The King’s Speech – $11,102,000 – 10wks
I was a little surprised that The mechanic didn’t rank higher with Jason Statham and Ben Foster. Still it seems more people are interested in seeing Natalie Portman be promiscuous. But only slightly.
The top 3 are all very close, but still not a massive draw at the boxoffice considering The Rite’s $37million production budget compared to its $15m take…. and that was the “winner” this week.
So did you get out to the theater this past weekend?
