Has Hollywood learnt nothing from 2005? Do they not read sites like this? Obviously not for they are planning a third sequel in the modern Oceans franchise. Why lord, why?
According to Variety through Coming Soon…
Weintraub is in the early stages of plotting a third installment of the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise with director Steven Soderbergh and his Section Eight partner George Clooney. The aim is to put the film in production later this year.
Okay, it didn’t do really badly and it wasn’t really bad, at least the first movie was pretty good, but another one? This really is milking it. I can’t believe Clooney is up for this either, and after all the good things I said about him in my look forward to 2006!
As I’ve been known to say though, this movie will pour out the costs on salaries and marketing and start off with a huge negative balance which we all have to make up by going to see the movie…then if we don’t spend enough to put it into the healthy profit margin it will be our fault for pirating movies again. Errrmmm…try not hiring five top actors in your movie and paying them $10 million each you numpties!
Here’s another little titbit, the Production Company is also set to start working on a Nancy Drew movie. Mmmm…personally I’d have preferred a Hardy Boys mystery, but that’s just me reverting back to when I read those books, I’m all grown up now and I don’t read them anymore while all the kids are out reading Harry Potter. Is that another clue for you Hollywood?
