Date Movie Trailer

Date Movie PosterOh my dear sweet heavens. The Date Movie trailer is now online… and I can now say with all reckless abandon that I think i’ve witnessed the WORST trailer in film history.

Any Joss Whedon or American Pie fan will probably instantly recognize Alyson Hannigan (Willow, the happy go lucky lesbian witch from Buffy), which is a good thing because I’ve always found the girl to have a lot of natural charm. But that “pleasant surprise” went down the proverbial toilet pretty damn fast just seconds after the Date Movie trailer started.

The idea is an interesting one. A spoof comedy (with much of the feel of the Scary Movie franchise) that makes it’s play off of romantic comedies. Good idea. HORRIBLE job. At least that’s the impression the trailer gives.

The film is slated for a February 7th release. I was surprised to read that since I hadn’t even heard of this film yet. Now, after watching the trailer, I understand why the studio hasn’t wasted anymore money on a marketing campaign. I think they’re in “Let’s just cut our losses” mode.

So yeah, if you hate yourself and want to subject your brain to the Date Movie trailer, then you can see it here. Good luck.
