The King’s Speech would go on to win Best Picture..
The rest of the polls in major nominations (directing, acting and writing) suggest that folks would like the Oscars to be spread out a bit. I also included Best Foreign and Best Docs as well.
Best Foreign in TMB poll was in favor of Mexico -Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Biutiful However, it didn’t win. In a Better World (Denmark) did, (Came in third in the poll)
Best Documentary in TMB poll was Exit Through the Gift Shop with50% (41 Votes); the Oscar Winner was ‘Inside Job’.
As of this writing, Melissa Leo has already won Best Supporting Actress (and eats up a speech clock) but did the int’l friend agree? There are many supporters of ‘The Fighter’ to be sure- but the poll would have given it to :
Hailee Steinfeld ‘True Grit’ 36% (80 Votes)
Helena Bonham Carter was in second; Leo third.
I voted for Leo, but I almos thought Jacki Weaver could have pulled an upset.
Best Actress- int’l friends selected by an landslide, Natalie Portman, (Black Swan) 82% (199 Votes) Everyone else got left in dust clouds. Annette Being, my pick, was second in the poll at 7%. (Portman would go on to win)
Best Supporting Actor
Int’ Friends chose Christian Bale, -who won for The Fighter. 65% (147 Votes) This was another popular choice among the int’l friends which proved to be the Oscar Winner.
Best Actor
Colin Firth – The King’s Speech at 52% (127 Votes) is tops in the poll, with James Franco, the Oscar co-host, at 22% Hey, give yourselves a round of appluase int’l friends. 3 rights out of 4 acting categories…
Best Screenplay
Inception wins the poll by an overwhelming 66% (309 Votes); King’s Speech clocked in a second 23% (110 Votes) the other three were 5% or under. (King’s Speech won the Oscar)
My personal Pick was that 5%- The Kids Are Alright.
Adapted Screenplay
The Social Network with 56% (152 Votes) – which won. Damn, I can’t write fast enough. In the poll, True Grit came in second followed by 127 Hours.
I was hoping for True Grit.
Best Director
Darren Aronofsky – Black Swan 37% (77 Votes)
a close second is David Fincher- Social Network with 34% of the vote. The winning director was Tom Hooper, “The King’s Speech.”
