[Zack Snyder] has caught a giant-sized and improbable fish and us grateful Superman geeks should laud him with all the praise in the world. He got Michael Shannon to play General Zod. That’s just insane. If you aren’t doing cartwheels of zealous joy right now then there’s really no hope for you.Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures just announced the casting.
This is outstanding news. It’s a high profile part to a big film, and most know who Superman is. Last year, Shannon’s part was almost cut entirely out of ‘Jonah Hex’ -whether that’s a good or bad thing is in the eye of the beholder. But he was also in the rock bio-pic The Runaways, which had great and surprising acting turns from the cast but the studio didn’t have enough to promote the film, and thus, it sadly went nowhere. Nobody has forgotten about his Oscar nominated turn in Revolutionary Road, or his TV work on Boardwalk Empire.
My interest has peaked just a bit for the reboot.
