The first images for the cast of Batman Live have hit the net – a live stage production musical set to open in London England.
Seemingly inspired by the Spider-Man stage musical, but learning from the injury threatening production, the live show will feature Batman and some of his more popular rogues revolving around the story of introducing Robin.
The costumes look a little TOO much like they are adapting Schumaker’s Batman and Robin, which right there raises some flags. The stage production is supposed to be more campy like the Adam West Batman, which was an inspiriation for Schumacker’s neon obsessed modern Batman.
Note: Schumaker’s Batman single handedly KILLED superhero films for a short while, scaring off studio consideration until Blade broke the ice for films like X-Men, which re-launched the genre 5 years later.
But its a musical. Something doesn’t quite fit there for Batman. Spider-man either. Come to think of it Evil Dead sounds like a dumb idea for a musical stage adaptation too, and the critics love it. So nothing is sacred.
So while Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark struggles against bankruptcy and physical injury, London is moving ahead with Batman Live.
Let’s see which one works better!
