A short time ago we posted a story about Brad Pitt wanting a gay role for himself because he thinks it would increase his chances for an Oscar (which I personally have no problem with). Well… it looks like he may have found the role he was looking for.
The good folks over at Cinema Blend had the follwoing to say:
Pitt may have found the project of his desire in The Front Runner, a novel by Patricia Nell Warren. The story is about the love affair between a male track coach and his head male team member. Nothing is confirmed yet, but all signs are pointing in that direction.
I honestly have no idea why some people don’t like that Pitt is dong this. Let’s look at some facts here:
1) Pitt is in the position in his career that he can pick and choose whatever project he wants
2) EVERYONE likes recognition in their choosen careers. Baseball Players want a World Serise ring. Football players want a Superbowl. Writers want a pulizter… why is it so bad that Pitt aspires to win an Oscar???
3) If anyone had two movies in front of them that they had the choice of doing, and all other things being equal, you believe one of them has a better chance of winning you that Oscar… then I suggest that ANYONE would choose that one. Why shouldn’t Pitt fairly have that option too?
Bottom line… Pitt has done everything already EXCEPT win an Oscar. He believes he’s talented enough to get one (and he’s right) and that he just needs the right project. I have no problem with him seeking out the kind of project that he thinks will give him the best chances of that. And anyone that thinks any other actor in Hollywood would do differently is deluding themselves (just my often flawed opinion).
