This is not the way I envisioned starting my Monday. It seems that the man who actually created Hellboy, Mike Mignola, is finding it hard to believe that a 3rd entry in the franchise will ever become a reality. Why would he even release such depreciating statements? Because Guillermo is busy, dude.

At the 2011 Calgary Comic Expo, Hellboy creator Mike MIgnola was asked about whether Guillermo del Toro could make a third film. The writer/artist said:
Last I heard he said he would not make it. Guillermo — who I love — in every interview there’s a new story on what his next movie is and he honestly believes he’s going to do all these things. But last I heard, he said ‘I’m never gonna get back to Hellboy. I’m not surprised because he won’t live long enough to do a tenth of the movies he’s told me he’s going to make… I can’t imagine him (Del Toro) making a Hellboy 3. He’s very enthusiastic and says he’s going to do all these things….ummm….he’s cute [laughed].
Well, Guillermo is quite popular and revisiting the Hellboy franchise may be a bit of a stretch at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I want to see him return to the franchise as much as the next geek but it may not be something that’s on his ‘radar’ at the moment due to his desire to increase his star power. I understand. Doesn’t make it the least bet less of a stinger to go with my morning coffee. Thanks Mike.
