R.I.P.D. is yet another upcoming comic-book based film/vehicle starring Ryan Reynolds that’s in development and will also star Jeff Bridges. We knew that already. Today we learn that the movie has a scheduled release date.

Last month, we told you Jeff Bridges was starring with Ryan Reynolds in director Robert Schwentke’s adaptation of the Dark Horse comic series R.I.P.D. and filming would begin this September in Boston. Well, Universal has just announced a release date and it’s June 28, 2013. As of today, no other movie has claimed the date, but with it being so close to July 4th holiday, it wouldn’t surprise me if another big movie announces the same date.
That is mighty close to the 4th of July and only a week or so removed from Reynolds’ current comic book outings’ own release date, except 2 yrs apart. Despite the tepid response that Green Lantern is receiving it seems that the folks at Universal have faith that this film with Reynolds’ is gonna work out financially using a comparable release time, so I’ll wish them luck. No other movie is yet reserving that date but I’m sure that will change as we get closer to the date.
