Jesse Eisenberg to star in The Double

Surviving zombies, portraying social media tychoons and this weekend strapped with a bomb and forced to rob a bank.  Jesse Eisenberg who I once would without fail mistake for Michael Cera is now someone I actively keep up to see what he is doing next. Christ I even liked Adventureland…

Vulture has the scoop:

Jesse Eisenberg is about to get Winklvii’ed. We’re excited to be the first to hear that he will star in Richard Ayoade’s indie adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella The Double. (For those unfamiliar, it’s about a Russian government clerk whose life unravels after what he believes is a literal facsimile of himself — same appearance, same name, same hometown — begins working in his office.) Think of it as Fight Club for bureaucrats.

Not having read the book myself – let’s face it movies rotted my brain; the mere thought of reading Dostoyevsky terrifies me. Maybe I just love tree’s and dont want to see them harmed – Yup let’s go with that, I love tree’s.

My fear of books and love of tree’s aside the premise sounds fantastic, a dopplegänger scenario driving Jessie Eisenberg mad playing into our fear of identity theft.  As we saw in The Social Network Jesse can play the part, who didn’t think his Zuckerberg was one crazy bastard.

Anyone here actually read the book, let us know.

Allow me to end with a tip for you.  If or when this movie comes up in conversation, perhaps at a party, brunch at the country club or line to signup for Clown College.  I don’t care where, whatever you do, do not be the prick who just has to remark ” Did you know its actually an adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella The Double”.

You may thank me later.
