No Alias Movie

Alias MovieI haven’t watched a lot of TV over the last 5 years or so. However, I always seem to have one or two shows that I watch at any given time on the go, and a couple of years ago the big show for me was Alias.

I remember after seeing Alias for the first time I commented to a friend of mine that it was the first TV show I’d ever seen that had the feel of movie quality to it. For its first 2 seasons it was the best show on TV. I kinda lost touch with the show about half way through season 3… and from what everyone tells me, I didn’t miss much since. (Although I still say Sloane is one of the best damn TV characters of all time!!!)

Well now that Alias is nearing its end, rumours about a possible Alias movie has been floating around. And why not? As I already mentioned Alias already had the feel of a movie… why wouldn’t they take it there? Well, those rumours have been put to rest by JJ Abrams himself. The good folks over at Cinematical give us the following:

Creator J.J. Abrams said the show already has a fantastic ending (in a two-hour episode) and he’s perfectly happy with the way the show is going out. When asked about a movie, he replied by saying “I think at the moment, right now Alias is sort of going to rest in just the right way, so I think that it’s the right way for it to go out.”

I don’t really mind the idea of TV shows becoming movies. But if a show really does end well… and the story has been told… then I applaud Abrams for deciding on no Alias movie. It was a great show in its day, and if the story really is done… then leave it done.
