Set in Los Angeles in the year 2019 Blade Runner’s universe is still impressive to behold, allthough seeing it today and imagining this could be the world in 2019 doesn’t have the same effect as it did back in the 80’s.
When the story surfaced earlier this year that Alcon had aquired the rights to prequels and sequels, I was relieved to read they could not remake the original, much like Star War’s this is a property that I do not want to see remade.

Alcon Entertainment confirmed Thursday that Scott’s attached, five months after it secured film, TV and ancillary franchise rights to produce prequels and sequels to the 1982 future-noir thriller starring Harrison Ford.
Scott will produce along with Alcon toppers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Bud and Cynthia Yorkin will also produce.

With Ridley Scott actually attached to direct I can only pray they find someone good enough to pen the script. Prequel or sequel… for my money I would like to see a sequel, set far enough in the future for me to once again believe its a possibility. As much as I do enjoy Harrison Ford, let’s not drag him back to this franchise.
