Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 Biggest Opening Day Boxoffice In History

As Beast would say: "Oh my stars and garters".  Pirates of the Caribbean 2 has just set the opening day boxoffice record with over $55 million for Friday (including Thursday midnight showings) ALONE. The previous record was held by Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith with $50 million.

By the end of the weekend, this film is going to kick the crap out of Spider-Man’s opening weekend record of $114 million.¬† Look for it to probably clear $120 million without too much trouble.

The irony, as some other sites have pointed out is that this movie isn’t even as good as the first one.¬† It’s not even that good at all.¬† A pretty fun movie that I ended up giving a 7/10 to… but not one I’d see 3 or 4 times (although I’ll probably see it at least once more just for Bill Nighy as Davey Jones… he looks AMAZING!).

Will it keep up this pace?¬† Probably not.¬† The movie is too long and not as satisfying as the first so it won’t have huge legs to it.¬† But the ENDING is so damn perfect that part 3 is almost guaranteed to break Dead Man’s Chest’s record.¬† Yes… for those of you who have not seen it yet… the very ending is that damn good.

Yo Ho.
