Shrek 3 Voice Cast

I’ve said it a thousands times here on The Movie Blog, but I’ll say it again. Pixar is the undisputed king of 3D animated films. Their WORST film to date (Cars… but that’s subjective) was still a solid solid flick with a 76% on Rottentomatoes. And that’s their WORST flick. Not bad.

However, just because I think they’re the best, doesn’t mean that others don’t put out some quality material from time to time as well. Take the Shrek franchise for instance. I LOVED the first one, and even though the second one wasn’t quite as good, I actually laughed more. So obviously I’m looking forward to Shrek 3. I hope it hasn’t worn out.

Anyway, the good folks over at Cinescape have posted a story about the rest of the cast for the film which also gives us a bit more insight into the story:

SHREK THE THIRD will include an elite, ninja-like strike force of fairy-tale princesses voiced by Amy Sedaris as Cinderella, Amy Poehler as Snow White, Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel and Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty.

Also joining the hit animated comedy’s cast are Ian McShane as Captain Hook, John Krasinski as Sir Lancelot, Justin Timberlake as King Arthur, aka Artie and Monty Python veteran Eric Idle as Merlin the magician.

Organized by Princess Fiona, the princesses’ underground resistance movement fends off a coup d’etat by Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) in the land of Far, Far Away.

Hehe… ok to me that sounds like it could be fun… or a total disaster. I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. From a visual artistic point of view, some of the stuff Dreamworks has done with Shrek has outdone Pixar stuff. Let’s see if they can “one up” Cars (which even its critics said looked jaw droppingly beautiful) in that department.
