There are some actors that you just wonder what they are like offscreen and I have ALWAYS thought that Colin Farrell would be a cool guy to hang out with. Mostly because the best I could do in his presence is just watch women throw themselves at him, but more because he just seems like a genuinely nice guy.
And women throw themselves at him.
But reading the Toronto paper, I found out that Farrell has been rubbing shoulders with the artsy elite at the International Toronto Film Fest. Better yet, he has been hanging out with the homeless. Or at least he was homeless until he met Farrell.
A radio babe offered $2,000 to anyone who could bring Colin Farrell (sigh!) down to the station.
Farrell grabbed the first rubby he saw and, bingo, Stress was $2,000 richer.
“Jump in,” Farrell says at the reunion Tuesday.
I wish I’d been a fly in that Audi. Down to Front St. they cruise, to Europe Bound Travel Outfitters.
“Get him anything he wants,” says Farrell, in that commanding Irish tone. He wears jeans and a black muscle shirt.
The lucky homeless guy is named Stress, and is likely experiencing far less of it after this chance meeting. Colin randomly grabs this homeless guy off the street and assist him in winning a radio contest then proceeds to go on a shopping spree.
Some stars who perform these random acts of kindness may be accused of staging the event for publicity, however I get a strong feeling that Farrell did this because it was fun. And honestly the $10,000 or so he spilled for this homeless guy known only as “Stress” is barely a drop in the bucket for this guy.
This is an incredible story, and something I think is the most spontaneous and randomly cool thing I have heard in a long time.
I love hearing about those who truly give back.
