Well this looks like a pretty good move for all concerned. With the Bourne series coming to a very satisfying close with Ultimatum, the action coordinator for the franchise was looking for his next gig… and he seems to have found a perfect job for his talents in the James Bond franchise. The folks over at Moviehole give us this:
Now that the “Bourne” series is finished with him, the 007 gang have decided to snap up action designer Dan Bradley as their next film’s second unit director. Says Variety, Bradley plotted out and directed the acclaimed fight sequences and car chases as the stunt coordinator and second unit director of the two Paul Greengrass-helmed “Bourne” sequels and will service the working-titled “Bond 22” in much the same capacity. The producers want him to continue and build on the more realistic and gritty approach to the veteran British spy begun in last year’s “Casino Royale.”
I do think Bradley did a great job with the fight and action choreography, but at the same time I have two reservations about this decision:
1) Was Bradley also the one responsible for the worst shaky camera in history? Was it his decision to do the camera work like that for the action sequences, or was that Greengreass’ fault?
2) The action in Casino Royale was fantasic. Why not just bring back the same crew who did the first one and allow them to build on the the success into the next?
