Ricky Gervais In Early Retirement

Gervais-2Ricky Gervais is a freaking comical genius. I’ve absolutely loved everything I’ve seen him do. Everything from The Office (The British version that preceded the Steve Carrell American one) to Extras (I know most of you have never seen an episode of Extras… but you REALLY MUST! That showGervais is just hilarious… personally I think it’s even funnier than Office).

Looks like Gervais has his next movie lined up called “Early Retirement”. The good folks over at Movieweb give us this:

Mark Perez created the story, which revolves around a workaholic businessman who decides to quit his job and spend more time with his family. Its meant to pick up where other movies, like Robin William’s RV, leave off. Only this time, we get to see what actually happens back at home with the father out of work and the kids running wild.

In general I like the idea. The whole “What happens after the happily ever after” ending of so many movies (kind of like the second Romancing the Stone movie). Still, on it’s surface it’s not something I would jump out of my seat and cheer about. BUT… attaqch Ricky Gervais’ name to it, and suddenly it becomes a comedy I can’t wait to see.

UPDATE – it appears Gervais is now denying his participation in the movie. He says he was approached and considered it, but is not involved.
