Stay For And After The Credits

Rumble-JackieRemember back in the day when a movie was over? Yeah, like “THE END” and then the credits would roll. The credits were really nothing but the soundtrack to which people left the theater. But these day, when the movie ends… you see more and more people staying seated… almost like they’re waiting for something. And then… BOOM… a picture comes back on the screen.

It wasn’t long ago that some movies started including little out-takes, or extra pieces of footage, or even entire extra scenes into the credits… or even after the credits has rolled (so that only the staunchest fans would see it… those willing to sit through like 5 minutes of credits). Sometimes they’re not really anything special… but often they can add a lot to the experience of the film.

Here are just some of my favorite during/after credit moments:

PIXAR MOVIES – Pixar always has something extra and fun in thier credits. I think the first time I noticed it was in Toy Story 2… i don’t know why but that Barbie stewardess saying “bu-bye” over and over again had me pissing myself laughing. In hindsight it’s not even all that funny… but I howled.

Certain Jackie Chan movies – showing the living highlight reel’s stunts gone wrong. The one for Rumble in the Bronx was especially painful to watch… you know… in a fricken awesome way.

Matrix Reloaded – had that extra scene at the end of the credits that gave you some glimpse into the next (and dreadful) Matrix film

Anchorman – The stuff they ran during the credits were pretty much as funny as anything in the film. My favorite was:

RON: “Are you having your charity golf tournament this year?”

Brick: “No. Too many people died last year”

Pirates of he Caribbean 3 – As totally dreadful as that wretched movie was… I must admit the extra little scene after the credits was kind nice.

X-Men 3 – You know the scene… where they guy in the hospital bed starts to talk… but in the voice of another guy… (don’t want to give away any spoilers)

Dodgeball – Just 3 words: “Fucking Chuck Norris”

Slither – Very key short scene at the end of the credits involving a cute little kitty cat

Damn, these are just a few off the top of my head. I’m sure I’ll think of about 50 more later that I should have included. So having said that… what are some of your favorite during/after credits material you’ve seen in a movie?
