Youth In Revolt Movie Lands Michael Cera

Youth-In-RevoltMichael Cera is pretty hot right now. With his work on Arrested Development winning him a lot of attention and now his already popular film “Superbad” coming out this week, you knew we’d be hearing about a lot of new projects for him. The next one seems to be based on the popular book Youth In Revolt.

I’ve heard a lot about Youth In Revolt, but I must confess to never actually picking it up. The good folks over at Movieweb give us this:

Payne’s self-published Youth in Revolt became an underground sensation and garnered a youthful cult following throughout the world, leading to a series of books featuring a teenager named Nick Twisp. The conceit of the novels is that Twisp strives to balance out his budding sexual urges while remaining an intellectual teenager in a world of moronic adults.

I’m gathering that Cera will play the lead character in the film, although from the stuff I’ve read about the book and the Twisp character, it just doesn’t seem like a fit to me. Oh well… I’ve always said that adding talent is never a bad thing, and I think Cera has talent to spare, so they’ll find a way to make it work.

No word on when they’ll actually start shooting this thing.
