Steve Guttenberg Joins Jessica Simpson’s “Major Movie Star”

Steve-GuttenbergRemember back in the good old days when Steve Guttenberg had a career? For a period of time back in the 80’s he was pretty damn hot stuff. He had big titles like the Police Academy flims, 3 Men and a Baby, the Cocoon flicks and a couple of other notables. Recently he’s been doing spot TV work and such memorable (sarcasm) movies as “P.S. Your Cat Is Dead!” and “Domino One”.

But it looks like Guttenberg is getting himself into a high profile project again… but that’s not necessarily a good thing. He’s lined himself up to appear in the new Jessica Simpson lead film “Major Movie Star”. Ug. Yahoo News give us this:

the story of Megan (Simpson), a somewhat clueless movie star who impulsively enlists in the U.S. Army Reserve after discovering that her boyfriend is gay and her cousin/accountant has stolen all her money. Vivica A. Fox will play Sgt. Louisa Morley, an intimidating training officer who’s tough on Megan. Guttenberg will play her controlling agent.

This can’t possibly be as bad as it sounds can it? CAN IT?!?! I mean, even if it wasn’t Jessica Simpson leading it… it still sounds awful. Is it too early to hand out the Razzies yet?

Personally, I’d love to see a resurgence from Steve Guttenberg. I always thought he had solid comedic charm. I wonder why he basically disappeared?
