Donnie Wahlberg is one of those rare music stars who successfully and properly made the jump to an acting career. Upon the demise of his New Kids On The Block phenomena, he eventually walked away from it… started taking serious acting lessons… had some great teachers… took some small roles… and eventually became what I think is a great character actor (the dude was bloody brilliant in Mel Gibson’s “Ransom”)
Looks like Donnie is gonna get to step it up from the old Saw franchise and is getting to act beside 2 of the best in the history of the business as he joins Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Righteous Kill. The folks over at JoBlo give us the following:
“That’s going to be a real challenge. I get to work with two of the greatest actors and drive to Boston every night. We start shooting in September, so it will be like going to school for me with two fantastic teachers.” In the film, Pacino and DeNiro star as brooding, vociferously furious cops who are on the trail of a serial killer. Wahlberg plays the young rookie in awe of their impossibly powerful vocal cords.
Don’t take this the wrong way… I like Mark Wahlberg… but I think Donnie is just a better actor and I’m thrilled for him to get this opportunity. I also think it’s a good move for the film. Now if someone over there would just smarten up and dump that no talent 50 Cent from the project, I might be able to start taking this movie seriously.
