There is no denying that Megan Fox is one hell of a sexy woman. She looks more like a porn star than an actress… and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Not all actresses have to fit into the same mold. The unfortunate thing is that she also appears to have the acting ability of a porn star. Her insane good looks let you overlook that deficiency for a while… but eventually she opens her mouth again.
In Transformers, she was handed a golden ticket. A sure fire blockbuster film with a wonderful character. Her character was a strong, self assured, non-whiny female character (see my rant about those from yesterday’s post), but the fact of the matter is she just plain doesn’t have the acting chops to pull it off. Thus, unless her next film is entitled “Naughty things we do to the pizza boy”, I can’t say I’m much enthused to watch her again.
However, when you are as hot as she is… and you’re coming off a big blockbuster film, you know she’ll get more roles. And she has in a new horror film called “Half to Death” (which is being produced by Michael Bay). The good folks over at Cinematical give us this:
The film is said to be a combination of Groundhog Day and Captivity, although since the latter failed to break $2 million on its opening weekend, Bay’s PR people might want to rethink that one. The official synopsis says, “A young college freshman named Teresa is troubled when she discovers she is living the same day over and over again, one that starts out innocently enough but always ends with her brutal murder by an unknown attacker. Could the murderer be her boyfriend Gregory, who is also sleeping with Teresa’s roommate Lori? Or could it be Lori, who is ferociously envious that Gregory might like Teresa more? Maybe it is one of Teresa’s classmates, unable to get her attention? Perhaps one of her professors, who cannot consummate their passion for their top student? Or perhaps it’s some secret Skull & Bones-type society, who picked Teresa for no good reason to be their ritualistic sacrifice?”
I’ll confess I LOVE the concept. But having Fox as the lead gives me more than ample amounts of serious reservations about the project. Who knows right? Fox is still young, and perhaps the Transformers experience helped her develop. I mean afterall… Michael Bay isn’t exactly the worlds greatest character director is he? Mark me down as interested… but worried.
