Sicko To Be Shown To Canadian Nurses For Free

Sicko is a fantastic film. I’ve mentioned this before, but when I first saw a positive review for the movie coming out of Fox News, I nearly passed out, and I knew it had to be something pretty damn good. Saw it for myself… and it IS that damn good. An excellent project that most people should get themselves out to see.

For those of you who don’t live in Canada, as unimaginable as it may sound, there are a few deluded people (usually who represent the very rich) who actually want a more “american” style health care system. They are the vast minority, but since they have money behind them, it’s a danger. In response to that, Michael Moore has decided to let Canadian nurses see the movie for free (Canadian nurses are amongst the most outspoken AGAINST the Canadian system becoming more American. Yahoo has this:

“Nurses across Canada are on the front line in the battle against those forces who want to inch the Canadian health care system toward the American way,” Moore said in a statement Friday. “They know that once a Canadian sees ‘Sicko,’ the last thing they will want is an American-style approach,” he added.

Following suit, Alliance Atlantis said it will offer free tickets to “Sicko” from Monday through Thursday to nurses who show ID when entering Cineplex Entertainment, Empire Theatre or Landmark Theatre multiplexes.

This isn’t just a “nice gesture”, it’s also brilliant marketing.

So listen, honestly, get out and see Sicko. It may not change your mind, but I think that you’ll really enjoy it on its own merits. And if you happen to be a Canadian nurse… it’s free.
