News out today that Ryan Gosling has joined the cast of The Lovely Bones. We get the story today from our friends at slashfilm:
Academy Award nominated actor Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson) has signed on to star opposite Rachel Weisz in Peter Jackson’s big screen adaptation of Alice Sebold’s bestselling book The Lovely Bones.
Gosling will play the girl’s father and Weisz will play the girl’s mother. The Lovely Bones will start principal photography in October in Pennsylvania and New Zealand.
The cast is shaping up to be fabulous. If you are going to have people dealing with the death of their daughter the entire film; you are going to need solid actors to pull that off. There is going to be alot of hugging crying and possibly some Bette Midler music in the background.
From what people have been telling me about the book, it is a quality story. Peter Jackson is decent at adapting films from books of this we are certain. If he can do for this book what he did for Lord Of The Rings then we should have a fitting adaptation to film.
