In the name of the Tri-Lams, I bring you news of a new frat movie en route to a theater near you! We get the scoop about the currently untitled project thanks to the professionals at Variety:
Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison have set Anna Faris to star and Fred Wolf to direct an untitled college campus comedy that will begin production this summer.Faris will play an ex-Playboy bunny who moves into the lamest sorority on campus to help make the girls more popular. “Legally Blonde” scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith wrote the screenplay.
On paper a movie about an ex-Playmate joining a female fraternity to “whore the girls up” and make them cool sounds dynamite. I am hard pressed to think of a frat movie that has had a female as the lead, and has told the tale of frat life from a women’s perspective. I think this is a great step in exploring the majesty of the frat film genre.
I think the idea is solid, now I hope the film is good. Anna Farris has been in some stuff I like (Lost In Translation) and some stuff that I hate (Scary Movies) I would consider myself neutral on the news of her starring in this role. I think Jenny McCarthy or Carmen Electra may have been better suited for this role, but this is just me speculating. The script and team they have together could suit Farris perfectly. We will wait and see.
It is a shame the movie does not yet have a name. International Friends – what would you name this film.
My title would be The Girls Of Tau Nu Alpha
