Eli Roth Says No To Hostel 3

It looks like Hostel will be a pair of films rather than the industry standard of the trilogy. We get the following interview except from cinematical:

A few days ago, I had a chance to speak with Eli Roth regarding everything Hostel, as well as his future plans for the Stephen King adaptation Cell, a Grindhouse 2 with Edgar Wright and this Trailer Trash movie we keep hearing so much about. I’ll be posting the full interview next week, but in the meantime I managed to snag word from Roth that, as of now, he has no intentions of making a Hostel: Part III. When I asked whether he leaves anything open at the end of Hostel: Part II, Roth said: “No, there’s part one and part two. There’s Kill Bill I and Kill Bill II. There’s Hostel: Part I and Hostel: Part II; no part III. I mean, never say never — but, no. That’s the story; there’s part one and part two – it’s over, I’m done with it.”

I am wary of seeing Hostel 1 or 2 because of my strong dislike for torture scenes in film. I do have friends that were fans of the film and are encouraging me to watch it and then go for beverages during the scenes I choose to ignore. That may be something I will do, I will feel like an 8 year old again but I am curious to see this film because it did generate a lot of buzz.

When movies are successful now, we simply anticipate a sequel now. Recently it has been the norm to push past the trilogy range and just keep pumping movies out. With this summer being the summer of the “3’s” I am starting to wonder if the movie going public will soon tire of so many sequel projects.

In a time where everyone goes to at least 3, it is nice that Eli Roth has chosen to cap it off at 2. I can love a full series of films, if it is good; but more often than naught a dead horse is being beaten. With Roth being involved in so many other projects, it is exciting to see him comfortable enough to branch out rather than sit on his laurels and keep pumping out Hostel films. Eli Roth we salute you.
