The Game Plan

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is an interesting character study as far as an acting career goes. The man still doesn’t have huge acting chops, but he oozes so much damn natural charisma that most viewers find themselves drawn to him when he’s on screen. That goes a long way (as long as he doesn’t take roles that require a hell of a lot more than just pure charisma). To be honest, I actually get a kick out of seeing him on screen.

Now this is funny timing. Just earlier this week a friend of mine in LA wrote to me after watching a screening of The Rock’s new movie “The Game Plan“. On the surface I thought this project sounded stupid as hell… but word has been that the story is pretty good… and my friend who saw a cut of the film actually said to me “Jezus I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but *#$& this is a pretty good film” (he hates The Rock). Interesting.

A poster for the film is now floating around the web and the good folks over at Cinematical give us a look at this nugget about the film:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was pretty adept at crushing quarterbacks as a member of the 1991 NCAA champion Miami Hurricanes football team. This fall, he returns to the gridiron for the family-oriented Disney flick The Game Plan, about a superstar NFL QB who’s forced to question his swingin’ bachelor lifestyle — and his pigskin career — when he finds out he has a seven-year-old daughter.

See what I mean about it sounding a little lame? But oh well… I’m keeping an open mind about it… at least it couldn’t be worse than Doom.
