The Iron Man news just keeps getting better by the day. We now hear that ILM will be responsible for the movie’s special effects. We get the skinny from movieweb:
Industrial Light + Magic will be the principal visual effects house on Marvel Studios’ Iron Man , according to The Hollywood Reporter.
ILM sister company Skywalker Sound will handle sound design and mixing on the film and that Deluxe’s DI business Efilm, which opened a DI suite at Skywalker Ranch last year, will do the film’s color timing and mastering.
Yea, I am not an expert on visual/sound effects, but I know when you have ILM and Skywalker Sound doing your work – you can sleep easy at night. In the morning all your money will gone but the quality will be the work of master smiths. The work on War Of The Worlds blew me away and although I disliked Pirates 2 the effects were bananas.
Iron Man has good news day after good news day. The only news from the Iron Man camp that has upset me to date is that Stark will not be an alcoholic in the film. I am trying to think of another project that has slowly, over time started to steamroll excitement like Iron Man. People seemed indifferent at first, now people seem to be talking, getting pumped up and down right excited for the project.
I hope this film is like Blade where they take a not so popular character and make a glorious movie from it. With Downey Jr they certainly have the acting chops to pull it off, with ILM and Skywalker Sound on board they will have the effects that they need, now let us hope that the story will do them justice.
