The Hulk Isn’t Going To Be Green

Hulk-GreyOn any bit of Hulk news I’m required to mention that I actually liked the first Hulk movie. Having said that, like everyone else on the planet I very much look forward to a more “Hulk Smash tiny humans” kind of flick that seems to be heading our way. They’ve already announced that the next Hulk film (sort of a reboot and kind of pretending the first one doesn’t exist) is going to have loads more action… and having recently announced that Louis Leterrier (Unleashed, The Transporter movies) is directing and Edward Norton is playing the lead, everything seems to be heading in the right direction.

But hold the phone. Although it’s true that Hulk has had several colors of skin in the comics, I think we can all agree that when we think “HULK”… we think of the big GREEN guy. Well… according to Marvel Honcho Avi Arad, green appears to not be “in” this year. The good folks over at Cinemablend give us this:

Arad says, “It’s a new Hulk, new direction, new size, new color, new attitude. Anything that was done before is not in this movie. It’s a very different kind of Hulk. It’s more of a love story; it’s more of a heroic Hulk. It’s a kind of Hulk we loved in the show, so it’s kind of more influenced by the show than anything else. It’s very human, very touching, and huge action. Louis Leterrier has a unique filming style that will be great here and it’s going to be spectacular.”

Not green? That’s a little strange… but really it’s not that big of a deal. In the comics Hulk was often grey. I’m not an authority on Hulk comics, but if memory serves me correctly, Grey Hulk was far more intelligent than Green Hulk (he could actually carry on conversations with you), however, he was stronger when in his Green form.

Like I said, I really don’t think it makes any difference once the movie starts. Making him Grey (if grey is indeed the color they go with) is probably just another way for them to distinguish this Hulk movie from the last one. What do you think?
