Looks like Chuck And Larry star Kevin James will be rolling out movies like a mofo. Stand up to TV To Movies James is working his way up the food chain till he becomes Governor. The Hollywood Reporter gives us the story about Kevin’s upcoming project One Nation Under Bob:
With his sitcom “The King of Queens” all wrapped up, Kevin James is setting his sights on the movie world, entering negotiations to star in Universal Pictures’ “One Nation Under Bob.” The comedy is being produced by Shady Acres’ Tom Shadyac and Michael Bostick.
John Scott Shepherd wrote the screenplay, which follows an average guy who inherits a plot of land only to discover that it is a country unto itself and he is now the owner of a sovereign nation.
A movie about having your own country a funny idea. To be able to make your own rules and laws is pretty appealing to me. You don’t have to worry about buzzkill cops raining on your parade because you have Sepultura canked at 3 AM. In my country we have a national anthem – It is Arise by Sepultura, and we play it whenever we want. We also have cops – but they are all girls, and they don’t fight crime; they just kiss. Yes having my own country would be great, I would run it like Switzerland – only I wouldn’t launder Nazi gold.
Kevin James is setting out pretty well on his movie career. We will have to see how Chuck And Larry does, but I have enjoyed him in all his cameo bits in films and think he is a funny dude. His sitcom was on the air for years and has had a steady following, hopefully they will follow him to the silver screen.
This is a great idea for a movie and is a blank check for hilarity. You really can get as outlandish as you want with this idea, and I hope they capitalize on that. No word on when this will be released, James has yet to officially sign up for it – but I will be on the lookout for news and keep you posted.
