Stills from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

I think that Order of the Phoenix is likely my favourite Harry Potter book so far, but the least anticipated of my list to see as a movie. I know people are complaining that the movies are becoming less and less like the books, and honestly I don’t have too much of a problem with that.

The first book was small. Very little going on, just introducing the characters. It was so short in fact that once made into a feature film you could nearly read along and not miss a lot of details. But as the books grew in sequels, they also grew in page count. They became longer and more involved, almost maturing in writing style and understanding as the readership that flocked to it. Each book became more serious and more detailed.

The bigger the book, the more that gets left out in the movie. Which is a shame really. The movies will, as most movies are, be abridged adaptations of the book.

As the books get better, I grow less excited about the movies. However the events in HalfBlood Prince, I do want to see on screen. Ok, I am still a big geek and I will get excited about the movie anyways. The images released just confirm that I DO in fact want to see this. And I want the last book this summer too.
