Interesting news in the land of Disney . It appears that the premier of Pirates Of The Caribbean 3 will be open to the public – at a cost of 1500 per ticket. We get the news from Disney.comI would say that this is a waste of money and that Disney is only offering seats for those wealthy enough or perverse enough mentally to pay that for tickets. But It turns out the proceeds will be going to the “Make A Wish Foundation.” This is a decent idea for a fund raiser, but they want to raise 2 Million which means 2000 people will be attending as guests.
If I was paying 1500 for a red carpet event, I would want to be there with maybe 11 other guests – and be guaranteed a lap dance by 2 or more of the stars. But who knows, this may be a hit and the place may very well sell out. One way they can fill the seats is to target the kids in the ads. Using the art of nag wealthy parents will throw down cash to appease the squawking youngsters.
I am very skeptical of charities, but the Make a Wish Foundation was a great idea. To give a child with terminal illness the day of their dreams is about the greatest thing you could do for them (short of the cure). It re-ignites hope, and can bring joy to the rest of a child’s days. If you can afford it, that would be worth the price of admission.
