Adapting a comic book into a movie is a very popular thing to do these days. Something about making a movie that already has a pre-existing audience or whatever. Either way, the latest addition to the adaptation process has been chosen and it’s Image Comics’ Area 52. Never heard of it? Hell, neither have I but here’s a synopsis:

The story centers on a top-secret warehouse in Antarctica named Area 52 where countless otherworldly discoveries are stored. An alien killing machine is accidentally hatched in the lab, and the ragtag group of misfits tasked with manning the facility must use the stored mythological weapons and artifacts to stop the creature before it destroys the world.
Sounds interesting. Kinda a little generic at this point but it does sound fun. I can’t help but wonder what kind of mythological weapons these guys may come across. Maybe Thor’s hammer? Also, what genre of film is this? Comedy? I can imagine some fun comedians taking on the roles of the guys who work at the facility….
