Hudson Considered for Aretha Franklin Biopic

With all the negative publicity and contraversy Jennifer Hudson has been getting lately, I think its great that something positive is being said about the girl. Even if it is just hearsay speculation. Aretha Franklin is considering options for a biopic of her life, and Jennifer Hudson’s name has come up.

Cinematical says:

Ms. Franklin has chatted with Access Hollywood about a number of studios who have expressed interest in her life story. While talking about the possibilities, she confirmed that Hudson was one of the names suggested, but she wasn’t particularly excited or set on the idea. She’s quoted as saying: “Well, I don’t know. I’m not sure. The producers want to know how I feel about it, about her playing [me]. What I’d like to see is three different people playing [me].”

This is exactly the type of role that I think Jennifer Hudson should be perusing. She is a singer. She can act well enough to get her an Oscar, but to be honest, she was acting the part of a SINGER. Its not hard to act like who you already are. Ask Tim Allen.

We often complain around here when singing stars or professional wrestlers get leading roles. Roles they don’t deserve. At least Jennifer Hudson can act well enough that aside from the singing stuff, she can hold her own. To hone her craft on another role as a performing artist would broaden her talent. And this is a very suitable character to be playing for her. She can match the vocal power Franklin is known for, and she knows the life and stresses of a performing star.

Lets hope if she does get it, that she holds up the rest of it as well.
