Kickin it Old Skool Poster

I am NOT a big Jamie Kenedy fan. His show was funny for 2 episodes, then I was tired of watching the same prank over and over again. Also, I have to say despite the stupidity of the Son of the Mask, thanks mostly to a super corny and silly style, I did like the movie. Mostly because of Alan Cumming. That being said, I didnt have high hopes for his next project, Kickin it Old Skool.

ComingSoon.net says:

In 1986, a freak break dancing accident put Justin Schumacher in a coma. Now, 20 years later, he (Jamie Kennedy) is waking up to a new world and discovering that the more things change, the more he’s stayed the same. With the girl of his dreams (Maria Menounos) engaged to marry his grade-school nemesis (Michael Rosenbaum), and his parents drowning in the debt of his medical costs, Justin must rally his former squad, bust a move, and win back the girl of his dreams.

Now before I go one line further. I LOVE this idea. It sounds a great deal like Malibu’s Most Wanted, with Jamie playing the fish out of water character trying to fit in. And that is why I didn’t get too excited the first time I heard of Old Skool. But now I am all pumped about this and I cannot wait.

The guy has to to up against the very cool suave Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville’s Lex Luthor) to win the girl of his dreams. And in true 80s fashion this will be done with a “dance off” at a contest that will not only save the day, but it will get him the girl! And that girl is the very hot Maria Menounos (One Tree Hill)

As a guy who spent his teenage years in the 80s, I have to say one thing. Brilliant. Or should I say “Totally Rad!” I cannot wait for this movie. Guaranteed laughs by the Power of Grayskull.

On another note, it is a little known fact that our very own John Campea used to be a Breakdancer. Not kidding. Tomorrow night on the Audio Edition Uncut LIVE!, call in and ask him about it!!
