Radcliffe is Harry Potter for Good

I am a big Harry Potter fan. Now the most recent movies haven’t lived up to the fantastical world I found in the books, but rarely do movies do a book justice. Still I enjoyed the movies. I will be eagerly waiting to see Harry Potter this summer, getting the last book and seeing Transformers all within one week. Oh yeah… My kids might come too.

But as to the future of Harry Potter, with two more films still in the wings waiting to be made were we going to have a consistent cast? They replaced Dumbledore and I didnt even notice, but if they replace a member of the core trio in the movies, I think it would take something away. Well now we have news that Dan Radcliffe – Harry Potter himself has agreed to stick it out for the whole ride.

Cinema Blend gives us:

The news comes from DanRadcliffe.co.uk where they say they’ve been told by Radcliffe’s publicist that he’s officially signed on the dotted line to appear in the final two Harry Potter films. In September he starts shooting Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Then he’ll be back for the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Daniel Radcliffe, when not appearing nude with a horse on the London stage, will be forever known as the one and only Harry Potter.

Still no word as to whether his co stars Rupert Grint (Ron Weasely) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) will follow. Each of them are showing signs of resistance to sticking it out this long. They quote the typical “I dont want to be type cast” excuses, but we know they are just holding out for a bigger paycheque.

Will we see anything more of these stars after the Potter films are over? I think out of them all, Radcliffe is making the biggest effort to improve, while Emma Watson tries her best to be the beer chugging badgirl in the media. I think it would be a bad idea for any of them not to sign on. Its a guaranteed payroll for the next 3-4 years.

Can they trust their ability and star power to take them that far without Potter?
