There is going to be a new Wizard of Oz, but it isn’t your typical remake, it will be instead “re-imagined”, with new twists and turns, and it will star Zooey Deschanel as Dorothy or DG as she likes to be called in this new miniseries. The people over at cinematical.com explain:
The miniseries is coming at the hands of writing team Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle. The story would revolve around D.G., a girl transported to The Outer Zone — an area oppressed by dark magic….she faces a challenging journey along with Glitch (missing half his brain), Raw (wolverine-like and courage-less) and Cain (vengeful former cop with a damaged heart). The journey would lead to her facing an evil sorceress, Azkadellia.

Like I mentioned in my previous article I don’t mind the this new version of The Wizard of OZ, it sounds kind of cool. It could be terrible but now they seem to be casting decent people in roles for this. Zooey Dechanel does very well on television as well as in theaters so she is a natural choice for this, as well she has that wide eyed Dorothy feel down already.
I’m curious what the lion and tigers and bears will be like with the Sci Fi channel producing…oh my!
