Blame it on the rain or the lack of fresh ideas but Hollywood is turning to the handsome but untalented eighties twosome Milli Vanilli for its next bio pick. The good folks over at cinemablend.com have more on the film:
Variety says Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to make a movie about the duo. Jeff Nathanson has been hired to write and direct it. He knows a thing or two about massive frauds, having written Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can script. Nathanson apparently has a thing for fakers. He says, “I’ve always been fascinated by the notion of fakes and frauds, and in this case, you had guys who pulled off the ultimate con, selling 30 million singles and 11 million albums and then becoming the biggest laughing-stocks of pop entertainment.”
Well it is an interesting story.
In my opinion though these two guys were more like pawns for the music industry that represented them, then the actual tricksters. One of the duo-Rob Pilatus actually committed suicide after the disgrace that followed the revealing of their fake singing. Yep, there is definitely a story to be told here.
To me though, it would be more of a movie of the week kind of story, or I might rent it. I would not see this film in theaters.
