Remember the nightmare that was forming when Disney was going to commit the great blasphemy of producing a Toy Story 3 without Pixar Studios? What a total disaster that would have been. The Toy Story films are arguably the most magical and wonderful animated movies of all time (before you start bashing me for saying that, please note I said “arguably”), and without the masters (Pixar) a third film would have just ruined it.
Well, now that Pixar and Disney are all one big happy family, and the RIGHT people are behind it, the prospect of a Toy Story 3 is something to be celebrated instead of feared, and it looks like the celebration can begin in 2009! The good folks over at M&C give us this:
John Lasseter along with Catumll confirmed that ‘Toy Story 3’ is in development but he would not be helming. Slated for a 2009 release, Lasseter said the animated franchise would be directed by Lee Unkrich. Lasseter directed the first two ‘Two Story’ features.
Unkrich co-directed ‘Toy Story 2,’ ‘Monsters, Inc.’ and ‘Finding Nemo’ but has never before helmed a feature by himself. Michael Arndt, Oscar nominated writer of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ is working on the new Toy Story script.
Holy crap!!!! It’s so good to see Toy Story in good hands. This movie is going to be total magic! i can’t wait!
