They say that when a studio will not show any advanced screening of their movie it is because they don’t want the public to know how bad the movies is, Sony will not be showing press Ghost Rider. What does that mean? Well the chances are good that this film is bad. The people over at cinemablend.com have more on the story:
the New York Post is reporting that Ghost Rider will not be shown to film critics…They say some critics are being invited to a late-night screening the night before, but the screening will be too late for any of their reviews to make it into the papers until Saturday, after everyone has already wasted their money on a piece of shit movie on Friday.
This is a dirty trick to play on the public, this movie will still say press screened because of the late night screening. Even if the film does well opening weekend the studios have totally shot themselves in the foot because it will make them loose all credibility within the press community, this is completely disrespectful of fans and press.
Why else would they show screenings so late? Is there another reason? Is the film not ready? Sometimes people edit right down to the day that films are shown, but that is more of a festival thing to do. We are talking about a movie that will be released to thousands of theaters, I do not think this is the case.
Sony spent over 100 million making Ghost Rider and now they are sending out all signs that it will be terrible. With the kind of money they put into this film it seems that they should at least try a few different way to spin it, or maybe re edit it, or something. Instead they have chosen to manipulate the press and basically lie to movie goers about this film.
I predict Ghost Rider will be riding into oblivion never to be heard from again.
