The Weinstein Company has apparently found it’s funny bone in dance, or at least it is taking a chance on the new comedy called Dirty Step Stomp that they’ve just purchased. The people over at comingsoon.net gives us this:
The Weinstein Company has picked up Dirty Step Stomp, Steve Basilone & Annie Mebane’s spoof, setting it up with Benderspink. Variety says the project will spoof such dance pics as Dirty Dancing, Save the Last Dance, Step Up and Stomp the Yard.
I was wondering when someone would bankroll on a good spoof for dance movies, there have been so many cheesy ones over that last few years. This movie will be a good one to see if you’ve been dragged out to the overly sappy dance dramas, hopefully they will really rip into the cheese factor of the films.
Depending on the trailers I will probably be in stepping line for this flick.
