The new film The Kingdom is apparently so good that Universal has decided to change toe release date from late April to late September so that they can get the highest return on the film. The people over at yahoo.com explain:
In a sign of confidence, Universal Pictures has moved its action-thriller “The Kingdom,” starring Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, off its April 20 date in favor of a fall opening. Universal domestic marketing president Adam Fogelson said that keeping “Kingdom” on April 20 would limit the potential box-office upside of the film. No film, he said, with the exception of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” which opened April 21, 2002, grossed more than $90 million when released in April, after the Easter holiday.
Here’s the lowdown on the plot: Starring Foxx (an Oscar winner for “Ray”), Jennifer Garner and Chris Cooper, the film from director Peter Berg centers on an elite group of FBI agents sent to Saudi Arabia to investigate a deadly terrorist attack. While the plot seems a little played I am very excited about the cast for this. Also the trailer is quite good, it makes it look a bit like Syriana and that is not a bad thing.
