After his more than mixed reviews on The Fountain many people have been wondering if Darren Aronofsky would continue making movies with such unusual premises, now, with his new movie Black Swan Aronofsky appears to be giving his answer…yes. The good people over at moviesonline.ca give us this on the matter:
Darren Aronofsky has signed on for a new project called the Black Swan. The real kick is its a thriller about two dancers and their relationship. Weird concept. So two professional dancers have a rivalry that turns into some sort of a thriller.
So another high concept movie from Darren, but this one sounds a little more easy to understand; a ballet dancing thriller. I mean ok a dance thriller does sound a bit off the wall but when you stop to think about it this movie does have a few things going for it. For example the attractive dancers, the music could end up being fantastic if they used good classical music from say…The Swan Lake ballet ( with a title like black swan you can bet there are going to be a few references to that ballet already) also dance numbers in movies can be pretty amazing and it might be nice to see a thriller that doesn’t have the same old plot.
Of course until we see the trailer there is no real way of knowing if this movie will be worth watching but as for my first impression of Black Swan, it certain doesn’t look like an ugly duckling.
