I am a big fan of Al Pacino, and, like many love of the artist Salvador Dali, now their names will be together in lights because of the new Salvador Dali bio-pick. The good folks over at filmjunk.com gave us the scoop:
Al Pacino has reportedly signed on to play the famed surrealist painter Salvador Dali in an upcoming biopic based on the book Dali & I: The Surreal Story by Stan Lauryssens.
Pacino will be playing Dali in him later years, when his art became the most surrealistic and his life was the most unusual. Dali was known for being a very sexually experimental man as well as an eccentric, nonconformist. He was a sculptor, a photographer and an avid film maker, his films being a mix (from what I hear) between Ed Wood and a very dark Andy Warhol.
To see Salvador Dali brought back to life and his amazing paintings shown to a new generations would be a grand thing indeed. It is going to be so interesting to see what the thought process was behind some of his masterpieces. I am also excited about the director Andrew Niccol I wish that Johnny Depp was old enough to play him later in life but I am eagerly awaiting what Al Pacino will do with the role. It has been a long time since Pacino has taken a role that could really challenge him as an actor and I have a feeling that his interpretation of Dali may be as controversial as the artist himself.
