Sienna Miller, who, apparently is one of Bob Dylan’s biggest fans has come to the defense of Factory Girl, at Dylan’s accusations that the movie is slanderous against him. The movie explores the life of Warhol muse, Sedgwick, until her suicide death at the age of 28.
Here’s what the good folks over at monstersandcritics.com have to say:
Miller told UK The Observer she was “mortified” to learn of Dylan’s anger. “It blames Warhol more than anyone.”, “It very obviously looks and sounds like Dylan. But I think a lot of actors base performances on real life…I’m Bob Dylan’s biggest fan. I’m mortified that he’s p**sed off.
The character Dylan is angry about, Billy Quinn, a described hybrid of Dylan, Jim Morrison, Donovan, has a fated affair with Sedgwick in the film and bears more than a passing resemblance to Dylan
I wrote an article a little while ago about Bob Dylan threatening a lawsuit because he feels that a character in Factory Girl based partially off of him makes it appear that he is responsible for Eddie Sedwick’s suicide. You can read that article here.
It is quite expected that Miller would defend her film, even if it is at the cost of one her favorite musicians. She has worked very hard for this movie, it has had problems from the beginning but she’s stuck by the project. I’m sure that she was horrified that her favorite artist was trying to get in the way of her releasing her most hard worked art.
I am sure that Andy Warhol would find it very amusing that two different performance based artists are fighting over a Warhol film.
