Spielberg, Ford and Lucas All Saying Indy 4 Is A Go. Could It Be?

Lucas-FordOk… this is it… the final Indiana Jones 4 post I’ll do until this puppy starts filming (if it indeed aver actually starts filming).

Here the history of this story. I’m a HUGE Indiana Jones fan, and I’ve been anticipating it it like a virgin boy anticipates prom night. This geek boy anticipation of mine has gotten me burned a lot over the last couple of years. I’ve done some research, and I’ve done no less than 10 posts over the years reporting how either Ford, Lucas or Spielberg has made some sort of comment suggesting things with Indiana Jones 4 were ready to start. I’d get all excited, post about how Indy 4 is coming… only to have time go by and never hear anything more about it… until the next claims of “We’re ready to go” came out of one of their mouths.

Finally, earlier this year, they did it again. There was a very solid statement made that they were ready to go… only then to be retracted. At that point, I, as a fan, had be burned enough and decided to simply refuse to believe this thing was ever going to happen.

Now however, The Hollywood Reporter is saying that all three dudes, are saying “it’s official” (where has I hear that before?). This time it looks like they’re serious (although it’s looked like that before). Even Spielberg is quoted as saying:

“George, Harrison and I are all very excited,” Spielberg said. “We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you’d expect from our history with Indiana Jones.”

According to the story they are looking at starting filming in June. Yup.. in 6 months, with a 2008 release date.

I WANT to believe this soooo bad. But prom night has come and gone so many times without any action that it’s really hard for me as a geek fan to actually allow myself to accept it. They’ve burned us too many times with false promises and false hope. All I can say is that THIS TIME I hope they’re not bullshitting us. I hope I hope I hope. But until I see a trailer, I can’t believe it. (Is it just me, or does Ford look REALLY old in this picture?)
